I’ll be honest, I’m not usually one to do my own bike maintenance. Not because I don’t want to, but because I genuinely don’t trust myself not to break the fragile components in my attempts…
Additionally, doing your own maintenance on your mountain bike often requires specific tools to do it properly – tools which I don’t have.
While it’s definitely more expensive to pay a bike shop to do the work for you, I do at least pay for the assurance the job will be done correctly, with the proper tools, and in way shorter time than it would take me to try to do it.
But just because I personally am not mechanically inclined doesn’t mean that you can’t do it! There are plenty of excellent YouTube channels out there that do an incredible walking you through step-by-step.
