About Me

I didn’t grow up in the mountains. I moved a lot, living in different regions all the around the United States. It was difficult to know who I was when most of my energy went towards assimilating to fit into the culture around me. The one thing that always grounded me in my true identity was sports.

From the field, to the slopes, and beyond

I started playing soccer competitively from a young age, and it shaped my personality so many ways. Rather than turn my back on it, I’ve decided to embrace the model I learned early on as a way to persevere towards my goals in all areas of life.

My promise and mission

To be authentic and real

I don’t use stock photos on this website. What would be the point in that? My outdoor adventures have given me so many incredible memories, and my hope is that my experiences may inspire your own journeys! Therefore, everything you see is from my own photo albums.

Not to mention I’m terrified of copyright and other legal infringements, which is why my site is covered with photos of just me and no one else 😅

Nevertheless, that is theme you will find with me. I am practically allergic to inauthenticity. And while I find it difficult to navigate putting myself out there in the world, my promise to you, my readers, is that I will be as authentic as I can in both my storytelling and the information I provide. For my benefit and yours.

My Core Values

Guiding principles that drive my passion for the outdoors, adventure sports, and knowledge sharing.

Honesty

Edited videos on social media tend not to tell you the full story. Climbing mountains is hard. Crashing and falling hurts. Doing something new and inherently high risk is scary. Being a beginner amongst people who are not can feel embarrassing and demoralizing. I will share the truth of what many people in the outdoor world feel, but don’t talk about openly.

Humility

I believe the world would benefit greatly from less people pretending to be experts, instead of owning what they don’t know. I’m not expert – in many ways I’m still a beginner. Just like many of you will be. Being a beginner does not exclude us from participating in the activities we feel called to. It’s just the first step we need to overcome.

Perseverance

I don’t progress without struggle. In fact, I’m known to throw some impressive adult tantrums and often threaten to give up along the way. And yet, I find myself persevering relentlessly until I eventually get to the place I want to be. It’s often not pretty, but I’ve found that pushing through fear and doubt can reap incredible results if you continue to stick with it.
